Tips on how to choose the best quality tiles in India

Choosing the right tile is a very important decision. There are many different types of tiles available in the market, and each one has its own benefits and disadvantages.

There are three main types of tiles – Ceramic, Porcelain and Natural Stone. You can also choose between glazed and unglazed tiles.

To get the best quality tile, you should consider these tips:

Consider the durability factor before buying tiles.

The colour and finish of tiles are important in terms of appearance, but there should be other factors besides choosing quality tiles.

Choose one that has a good warranty period so that you can return them if they don't meet your expectations or if there is any damage during installation or otherwise.

Check for fire resistance and waterproofing capacity as well as stain resistant as these are important features for kitchen flooring materials and bathrooms where there is a high risk of staining from food particles such as oil or grease and water spills from water pipes or taps during showers etc.

A guide to floor tile calculation for your space

Tiles are a popular choice for flooring projects. They are durable, easy to clean, and offer an amazing variety of colours and styles. The first step to laying tile is measuring the area that needs tiling. The calculation of tiles required to cover a floor depends on the size of the room, the type of floor, and the pattern and style chosen.

Steps to calculate the number of tiles

Step 1 : Measure the area of your tile

Measure the area of your tile to make sure that you are purchasing enough tiles. For example, if you need to cover a bathroom floor and it is 12' x 20', multiply 12 x 20 to get 240 square feet. If you want to purchase tiles in boxes of 24 square feet, then you will need 12 boxes of 24 square feet.

Step 2 : Calculate the number of tile boxes you need

Multiply the number of boxes by the number of square feet per box that you will need. For example, if your bathroom floor is 240 square feet and you want 12 boxes (24 square feet per box), then you will need 3120 square feet of tile. Your project will require 3120/24 = 144 boxes. It is less expensive to buy larger quantities than smaller ones because the cost per box is reduced with each additional box purchased.

Different tile shapes

There are many kinds of tile shapes to choose from. Some of the common ones include:

Square tiles are one of the easiest shapes to install because they have 90-degree corners. They are also easy to cut and shape with a tile saw. Square tiles are best used on walls where they can be installed vertically or horizontally without making seams like you would on a floor.

Rectangle tiles are another popular choice because they look good in both horizontal and vertical applications. They do require more cutting than square tiles, but they’re still relatively easy to work with as long as you have a good saw blade for your tile saw. Rectangle tiles can also be cut into triangles or diamonds for an interesting effect!

Oblong tiles come in all sorts of shapes from squares that have been stretched into oblongs to trapezoids that are sort of like a rectangle that has been stretched sideways! Oblongs are usually used horizontally but can be installed vertically if necessary.

Does the shape of the tile affect the total number of tiles required?

The answer to this question is yes. The shape of the tile does affect the total number of tiles required and there is an easy way to find out how many tiles you need.

Let’s start by looking at a square tile. This can be used as a basis for calculating the number of tiles required for any shape. A square tile has four sides, each side being exactly the same length as any other side. So if we divide the length of each side by 4 then we get the following:

A square tile made up of 4 identical sides will have a length of 1 unit, which means that it will measure 4 x 1 = 4 units along one edge and 4 x 1 = 4 units along another edge (or across its diagonal). In other words it has no width at all. If we divide these measurements by 2 then we get 2 + 2 = 4, which means that there are four tiles in total needed to cover our area.

Now let’s move on to a rectangular tiled floor where our tiles are longer than they are wide – this means that instead of having no width whatsoever like with a square tile, they have some width but not much – maybe just 5% or so (i.e. the length is 5% longer). If we assume that each row has an average length of 15cm and that there are 3 rows in total (so 45cm), then the total width of all three rows combined would be around 9.5cm.

However, if we were to add another row in order to fill up the gap between two walls then we would need another 4% of width (i.e. 1cm) which means that now our total width would be 10cm. As you can see, adding just one extra row makes a big difference!

What are the different sizes of floor tiles Exxaro provides?

Exxaro’s floor tile collection includes a wide range of finishes such as gloss, matt, polished and textured finishes suitable for residential and commercial properties. The gloss finish gives a shiny look, while the matt finish gives a matte look with less reflection. Textured finishes have a rough surface texture or patterned design, giving an elegant look to the flooring. You can choose from these different finishes according to your preferences or requirements.

Our tile sizes range from 600mm x 600mm to 800mm x 1600mm.

Summing Up

Tile vs. Marble: What’s the Difference?

Tile and marble are both natural stones that are commonly used in homes. They have similar colours and patterns, so it can be hard to tell them apart. But there are some differences between these two materials that make them suitable for different applications.

Tile is made from clay or concrete that is fired at high temperatures, while marble is composed of calcite or dolomite (minerals). These minerals form over millions of years as sediments settle on the ocean floor and are compressed over time into hard rock.

The advantages of using tile over marble include

Lower cost: Tile is considerably less expensive than marble, especially if you're comparing tiles made from the same material. This means it's easier to update your kitchen or bathroom without breaking your budget; just replace the tile instead of refinishing all the cabinets and fixtures in those rooms.

Flexibility: Tile comes in a wide variety of colours, shapes, sizes and finishes, so you're not limited when choosing what type of tile best suits your needs. You can even paint ceramic tiles if you want them to stand out more than they would if left plain white or black!

Durability: The surface hardness on marble tops is only about 2 on the Mohs scale (1 being the softest). Tiles have an average surface hardness of 5-6 on this scale, making them much more durable than marble.

Tile comes in many different designs and colours, making it easier for homeowners to find something that matches their style and taste perfectly.

But let’s understand the basics of the two materials.

Tile  is a man-made material made from clay, stone or concrete. It’s commonly used for flooring, walls and countertops because it’s easy to install and inexpensive. Tile is available in a wide variety of colours and shapes to complement any home décor style.

Marble  is a natural stone that comes in wide varieties with different colours, patterns and veining. It’s beautiful but expensive — especially when you have it cut into slabs for countertops. Because of its strength and durability, marble can be used indoors or out on patios or walkways.

Points of differentiation

Let’s dive a little deeper!

Classification

Marble comes from limestone deposits or from metamorphosed limestone rock called marlstone. Marlstone can contain fossils such as shells or corals, which are often visible when looking at a marble slab up close. Marble is divided into three main categories based on its appearance — calcite (which is white), dolomite (which is yellow) or serpentine (green). Calcite marbles are more expensive than dolomite or serpentine marbles because they have a higher purity level, making them ideal for use in high-end applications such as luxury hotels or homes with elegant decorating styles.

On the other hand, tiles are made of clay, limestone or concrete. They’re fired at high temperatures in kilns and then ground down to create a flat surface that can be used for flooring or walls. The most common types of tiles are ceramic and porcelain, often used for countertops because they’re durable and easy to clean.

Ease of Cleaning

Marble is porous, which means it absorbs liquids very quickly. That’s why it’s so important to seal your marble countertops before using them. If they aren’t properly sealed, they can stain easily and become difficult to clean in the future. Tile doesn’t absorb liquids as easily as marble does because it isn’t porous; however, some types of tiles can scratch easily if you aren’t careful with them.

Durability

Marble countertops are very durable if they’re sealed properly; however, if they’re not sealed properly or left unfinished, they can chip or crack over time due to everyday use and cleaning techniques (such as using abrasive cleaners). Marble also tends to yellow over time when exposed to sunlight or other harsh elements (such as air pollution).

Both materials are quite durable- tile is resistant to stains and impact damage, but it does scratch more easily than marble does. Many tiles can be cleaned with soap and water, but if your floor gets particularly dirty you may need to use harsh chemicals to get rid of stains or scratches. Marble can also be cleaned with soap and water, but it’s important not to use any cleaning products that contain acids (like vinegar) because they can damage the stone’s finish over time.

What’s better?

In the end, it really comes down to personal preference. Marble is designed more for timeless appeal, whereas tile has more of a modern edge to it—both have the potential to look beautiful when installed and maintained properly.

The question you may have to ask yourself, though, is this: do I prefer a smooth finish, or a textured one? Marble certainly belongs in the former category, whereas tile can be either. As always, paint your walls and find out which style suits you best!
